Removing Unwanted Hair

Why do women in North America spend so much time removing hair? Why do we think that hairy armpits and hairy legs and hairy bikini lines are so gross??? Don't get me wrong, I shave, wax and pluck, too!
I know men shave every morning, for the most part. However, men don't have to shave and they can look ok with hair on their faces, armpits and legs!!!
It doesn't take long to shave. The two minutes in the shower with conditioner in your hair is all the time needed to do a thorough job, and smooth legs look so nice! See, I've been brainwashed, too!
I have been to Europe a few times both on and off the beach. Men and women there are a lot more a peace with their bodies. They are willing to show them off to any who choose to look. The majority do not remove hair from the above mentioned body locations and no one seems to mind!
So, what happened when the masses made the move to the New World? All of a sudden hair is no longer a good thing? What difference does a land mass make??
Yes, I know, we have a choice here, too. I do have a friend who chooses not to remove hair and it is not a problem. I think people who choose to live a more organic life are more at peace with their choice and they do not care what other people think!
There are times when I rebel...... I choose not to shave! Good for me! Then I panic! I hear my mother reminding me to always wear clean underwear with no holes it it, just in case. Well, that habit also extends to smoothly shaved skin. If, heaven help me, I am in an accident and need medical help and my legs aren't shaved??????? How embarrassing for me, what will the emergency personal think about me?? I was not prepared!
I know, they could care less, that's what you'll tell me, but you never know....

  1. I laughed when I saw your post as I just waxed the leg this morning. Yes it was only one leg cause I ran out of waxing strips. So any of you hair police out .there please just look at my left leg! I only started waxing my legs back in April and I find that I can get away with once every three weeks to a month. I also find the hair when it does grow in is not bristly but soft and fortunatly for me the hair is light so I don't think it is to noticable.
And if there was an emergancy I hope the paramedics are to busy to notice my one hair leg and are working on saving my life!

  2. Cathy, is that your own medicine cabinet? I have never seen so many shavers. I wax now and have done so for about a year now. I won't go back to shaving as the waxed hair regrowoth is so much smoother, finer and lighter. I tried waxing myself but the mess was overwhelming and I didn't do a very good job. So I no longer do it myself but this can get very expensive. So when you see my not so smooth underarms and legs its because I am trying to stretch out the waxing.

  4. Woah...! You've got lots of shavers. I don't go for plucking now. I only had Permanent Hair Removal It helped me removed my unwanted hair. God! Thought it would be painful but good thing it was really comforting and effective.

  5. Hi Billie,
I have thought about permanent hair removal, however I am nervous about scarring. I keep thinking I should just stop whining and keep shaving, lol!
    Thanks for stopping by!
