Thursdays on the bench - part one

Hello! It's been another busy week! We ladies are once again unable to get together for tea. I have two of my son's friends over for the day. The pool is warm, however, it is cool and cloudy. I have vacation time coming soon and I am hoping the weather improves, even for a little bit.

I am thinking about dinner. I have taken out pork chops. I think I want to do something Cuban...with black beans, garlic and tomatoes. I have to decide if I will season the pork chops with black pepper and cumin and coriander and grill them. Then saute onions and garlic, black beans and tomatoes like a salsa and serve with a salad. If I do I will serve with steamed rice.

My girlfriend in Calgary is always putting together tasty meals! She recently mentioned the website, 'Epicurious' as a good way to get ideas. She said you can just input your main ingredients and you will be rewarded with a list of meal ideas and recipes. It even lists the magazines the recipes were featured in. Take a look and see.

It is a good day for laundry, meaning hanging the clothes outside to dry. I love to do laundry and I love even more pinning the clothes on the line and seeing them sway with the breeze. They smell so good and feel even better. I also love the fact that I can do all my laundry in a day as the clothes dry so fast outside. Being 'green' is an obvious benefit.

I'm wondering what you thought about our new topic, 'Bench Talk'? Do you have any ideas you would like to see us discuss? Let us know. Also, if anyone has been having trouble leaving comments would you let us know, either with an email or phone call. Thank-you!

Good news! It turns out that we ladies can get together for tea tomorrow morning! So, stay tuned for 'part two' of Thursdays on the Bench'

  1. We have had a few days of summer latly. I have enjoyed them very much. No laundry on the sway. Been in an Apt. leaves you with washer fabric softener and dryer fabric softener to create the NUTURAL scent.
I will check out the Epicurious sight, thanks.
    Stay well
